What is the Provincial Nomination Program (PNP) and How Does It Work?

According to the CIC, the PNP allows each province and territory of Canada to have its own “streams” (immigration programs that target certain groups) and requirements. In a program stream, provinces and territories may target:

How Much Score is Required for PNP Canada?

Firstly, each applicants need to enter into the Express Entry System based on their collected CRS score(Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) tool: skilled immigrants (Express Entry) (cic.gc.ca)) , then mentioned applicant can apply to a PNP program through a separate application. For instance if you want to be nominated for PNP under Express-Entry now, you have to be awarded 600 points under the Comprehensive Ranking System for having a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) nomination, and must have a provincial nomination certificate that:

  • Was issued after January 1, 2015,
  • Was issued for a PNP Express Entry stream,
  • Is valid (i.e., not expired) when you submit your application for permanent residence, and,
  • Is accepted in the system by both you and the province or territory.
